Web Accessibility
Bord na Móna is committed to ensuring that bordnamona.ie achieves “Double-A” conformance with the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. In practice, this means that every page should comply with relevant Level AA (Double A) Success Criteria as specified in the WCAG 2.0 guidelines.
We are committed to ensuring that any new additions to the website will achieve “Level AA” conformance to the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.
Accessibility Features
In addition to achieving WCAG 2.0 Double A compliance we have provided a variety of accessibility features.
Skip Link
We have provided a skip link to people using JAWS or other screen readers to jump straight down to the page content.
Separating Content, Structure and Presentation
The site uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for layout and visual formatting. If your browser does not support CSS or you wish to turn it off then all pages are still readable and actionable. All content has appropriate structural markup.
Large Text Size and High Contrast Style
We have provided controls on this site to enlarge text size and access a high contrast version of the website.
All fonts are scalable – most browsers provide a means to specify default base text-size. You can change your text size using your browser. Please refer to your browser help to learn how to re-size text or use zoom controls.
Known Compliance Issues
Please be aware of the following known compliance issues. These may affect your experience of the website. If you have any difficulty accessing information please contact us.
PDF, Word and Excel format documents
The site occasionally presents information in certain non-W3C technologies such as Portable Document Format (PDF), Microsoft Word (DOC, DOCX) and Microsoft Excel (XLS, XLSX). Certain documents on this site are available in these formats only. This requires you to download and install 3rd party software. Because these documents originate from various sources we cannot vouch that they have been created with accessibility best-practice in mind or that the manufacturer’s accessibility guidelines for using that technology has been taken into account.
